Barefoot Weddings

A number of years ago while Kylie James working for the Cocos (Keeling) Islands Tourism Association, was fortunate enough to be on Christmas Island as part of a mentor program that was in place between Christmas Island Tourism Association and Cocos (Keeling) Islands Tourism Association.

During this time a meeting was held with the Administrator for Australia’s Indian Ocean Territories and delegates from the two tourism associations. We were asked by the Administrator to identify niche markets for the islands.

Kylie suggested that  weddings could be a niche tourism market for both islands, particularly Cocos due to the pristine blue waters, talcum white beach sand and magnificent sunsets. From this the administrator asked “Well Kylie, who will see this through?”

So with that “Cocos Barefoot Weddings” was started.

Assistance through a number of on island programs and support mechanisms has been used by “Cocos Barefoot Weddings” including the Small Business Development Corporation.
